A vineyard tour at Mountfield is a chance to walk the rows where our English sparkling wine begins. We planted our vines in 2012 on a south-facing slope at Mountfield Court, between 50 and 85 metres in altitude, chosen after we analysed several sites across the estate for sun, shelter from wind and frost, and mineral balance in the soil.
Your guide walks you through the growing year, from bud burst to harvest, and explains why this corner of East Sussex, with its greensand and clay over sandstone, suits the traditional Champagne grapes: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier.
Every tour ends with a wine tasting in our tasting room, beautifully restored in the old stables next to the house, with timber interiors and far-reaching views across the parkland. It is a relaxed place to sit and enjoy a glass.
You will taste across our range: the Classic Cuvée NV, the Rosé Reserve NV and the Blanc de Blancs NV, which scored 96 points at the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards, our highest score to date. Your host talks you through how each wine is made, blended and aged on its lees before disgorging.
