A Sussex Vineyard
Mountfield Winery is in Sussex and has been developed over the last 12 years. Our range includes the 2016 Blanc de Blancs, 2017 Classic Cuvée and 2020 Rosé, all available in the shop.
We planted our vines in 2012 having analysed several different sites on the estate. The vineyard is south facing, at 50-85 metres altitude, has good protection from wind and frost, and has great mineral balance.
The soil is a mixture of greensand and clay over a bedrock of sandstone. We developed an old dairy unit to create the winery which is next to the vineyard.
Being so close means we can protect the quality of the fruit during harvest as there is no delay from vine to press.
The tasting room is in the stables next to the house and is a great room to relax and drink wine in. Beautifully restored with timber interiors, a modern kitchen, and ample wine storage.
